Mr. Abrie Oosthuizen, National Chairperson and Provincial Leader of the Freedom Front Plus in the Free State, today condemned the umpteenth rape in the Free State as being inhumane and barbaric. The fact that the two rapists had robbed a British tourist of R300-00 and her cellular phone after which they raped her, serves as proof of how little respect these transgressors have for other people and the law.
The FF Plus has for some time called on the provincial government to give serious attention to the series of rapes taking place in Bloemfontein. This is once again proof that the provincial government cannot control crime in the province and if this should continue, the national government should start considering taking control of the situation.
Foreigners visit South Africa for the country’s natural beauty and the FF Plus deplores the fact that events such as this will definitely have a negative influence on tourism in the Free State and the country. No government can justify or ignore this type of actions.
The fact that the raping of a British tourist has taken place so soon after the Dewani murder, once again places SA in a negative light in the media abroad.
