PoliceA police sergeant was arrested on Thursday in connection with stock theft, Limpopo police said.

The policeman was allegedly a part of a syndicate stealing cattle in the Modimolle area, provincial stock theft unit commander Superintendent Alpheus Mokale said.

"He is the mastermind... 16 cattle were stolen."

The policeman would appear in the Magatle Magistrate's Court near Zebediela on Friday, where he would be charged along with his two alleged accomplices.

In a separate incident, Mokale said police recovered 21 cattle in Maja and appealed to farmers who had lost livestock to identify them.
