Afrikaans Must Stay At Stellenbosch University, Says Cape Party

E-mail Print PDF
Jan van RiebeeckThe ANC and its allies are waging cultural genocide against the people of the Cape. Afrikaans is a treasure of the Cape and must stay the language of Stellenbosch University. We condemn the continued assault of the language by the ANC and its allies.

Afrikaans has a special place in Cape history and the threats made to its use at Stellenbosch University, is an insult to all the people of the Cape.

Not only do they want to make the Cape ungovernable and topple the duly elected government of the Cape, they also want to rob us of our cultural heritage. The majority of people in the Cape speak Afrikaans and thus we demand that there be a university to service them. It is unacceptable that the Africanists should make demands, threats and insults over territory that does not belong to them.

If further steps are taken to remove Afrikaans from its special place in the Cape, we will resort to mass protests. A campaign of mass action against the ANC is at hand. We call on business, NGO's, churches and all concerned to join the Cape Party in resisting this racist attempt to disfigure a National Treasure of ours.

Adrian Kay
Cape Party Deputy Leader
