An 18-year-old robber was shot and wounded during a break-in at a house in Florida, west of Johannesburg, paramedics said on Thursday.About three men held a family on Janet Street at gunpoint at 8pm on Wednesday night, said Netcare 911 spokesman Nick Dollman.
They apparently tried to leave in the family's car when the home owner shot one of the thieves in the neck.
"He showed signs of spinal injuries -- loss of sensation, and was taken to a government hospital under police guard."
The rest of the would-be thieves fled the scene on foot. Nobody else was hurt.
