State-owned fuel supplier PetroSA on Sunday again said it was not responsible for fuel supply shortages in the Western Cape."The company is not responsible for the fuel supply shortages that have hit the Western Cape," it said in a statement, following reports at the weekend it was to blame for the situation.
BP spokesman Sam Mupanemunda was quoted on Saturday as saying the quality of PetroSA's products was among reasons for the fuel shortage, which has led to pumps at both Shell and BP garages in the province running dry.
PetroSA on Sunday repeated that it had fulfilled all its supply obligations to BP.
"The latest shipment out of Mossel Bay, destined for BP, was on March 3, as per the agreed schedule. PetroSA met all the volumes required for this shipment.
"This was in addition to product volumes required by BP for the Mossel Bay area, which have also been provided as per our supply agreement. PetroSA is therefore not aware of any short supply by our company to BP."
The company said it was meeting all its supply obligations to all its customers.
