Johannesburg Feb 25 - SapaAn automatic teller machine was bombed at a garage in Butterworth on Wednesday morning, Eastern Cape police said.
Captain Lingisile Magama said the blast happened around 5am on Wednesday.
The garage was closed and no attendants or security guards were on duty.
Nearby police heard the blast and rushed to the scene. They found that no money had been taken from the ATM.
There were no witnesses to the crime and it was unsure how many people were involved.
A case of malicious damage to property was being investigated. No arrests had been made, said Magama.
